Imago Relationship Therapy vs Traditional Marriage and Family Counseling
Imago therapy is meant to free each party of their emotional skeletons in the closet. The imago therapy method seeks to help couples find peace within themselves, so that they can become better listeners, more effective communicators, and start appreciating each other. While imago therapy cannot promise that couples can get back to the honeymoon phase of their relationship, it has been proven extremely effective for couples who are willing to put in the time needed.
Our unbiased therapist will work with both individuals equally, calmly, and never chooses sides or points the finger of blame. Unlike traditional therapy that can pit one party against the other, the goal of imago therapy is to help both people appreciate and respect each other. Only then can you truly feel the love and happiness that your marriage deserves.
Progress can be hindered in the first few sessions if one or both parties are reluctant to attend, participate, or commit to fixing their relationship through counseling.
What if My Spouse Doesn’t Want to Attend Marriage Counseling?
If your spouse is reluctant to attend counseling, we can discuss the current state of your relationship with you and offer guidance on the next steps to take. Sometimes people come around and agree to couples counseling, but sometimes (if they already have one foot out the door) they do not. They might even be more willing to attend online couples counseling!

Why Imago Relationship Therapy?
You are coming in to make your marriage better, restore your romantic relationship, or to save it in general. A professional should never tell you that there is no hope for your marriage if both parties want to save it.
You have many choices when it comes to therapists in Ohio, and we hope you give us a chance to help you save your relationship.
If you are both committed to fixing the problems in your relationship, an intensive weekend marriage retreat could be the solution you need to save your marriage. We also have online marriage counseling options and intensives available for couples to have access to the best counseling during the current health and economic crisis.

Remember, a degree in social work, psychology, or sociology does not qualify someone as a specialized couples counselor or marriage therapist. You would not want your family physician to perform brain surgery, just as you should not let someone without experience and qualifications lead you and your partner in counseling.

Ready to Save Your Marriage?
What Happens During the 2 Day Intensive Retreat:
My name is Rabbi Shlomo Slatkin and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Imago Relationships Therapist (Advanced Clinician). I’ve put together a tried and true formula for you so that that you can feel optimistic and hopeful again about enjoying a marriage that is respectful, supportive, and healthy. It would be a privilege to work with you and support you in effectively bringing back clarity and love into your relationship.
If you’re experiencing difficulties in your marriage, you NEED to have an intensive experience in order to create a breakthrough for your relationship.
And it is also crucial to have followup to integrate what you’ve learned so that your results will be long lasting- which is what you want!
Unlike a marriage workshop where you participate in a group setting with other couples, the retreat will give the privacy you need to deal with some of the most painful and personal issues you are facing in your relationship.
The Marriage Restoration Retreat is two full days of marital therapy in my Baltimore office, plus 8 follow-up sessions in person or on Skype. If you’re in crisis, the first thing that you are looking for is the hope that your relationship can be better. Weekly sessions, which are normally only 50 minutes with other therapists, will often take a while to get you to a better place, and that’s provided that you have the stamina and resources to stick it out!
Couples leave our 2 Day Retreat with newfound hope for their relationship, an understanding of what went wrong, and new skills to move forward.
Filled with momentum and new commitment to your relationship, you’ve accomplished what would take in 6 months of therapy. All the resistance is gone and now you can do the real work to make your marriage wonderful in our 8 follow up sessions.
Success Stories
We wanted to express our deep appreciation for your private couples retreat. Your gentle nature and subtle guidance provided a safe environment to share our experiences, concerns and hopes for our relationship. During the retreat both myself and my husband were able to gain a better understanding of our thoughts and feelings and how to channel them to a deeper level of engagement in our relationship. Your retreat provided us with the tools for calm and effective communication with an emphasis on acts of kindness and connection. The opportunity to feel heard by our spouse, and to observe the impact that feeling heard had on our spouse, was the greatest gift.
We feel blessed to have met you.

“Dear Rabbi Shlomo, We wanted to express our deep appreciation for your private couples retreat. Through the two days of training we were impressed with how focused and positive you kept the discussions even as we shared painful or disappointing scenarios. At no time was blaming or hurting allowed and you facilitated a positive energy through out. My husband shared how surprised he was with how the time flew by! We left with the hope and reassurance that the deep relationship we both envisioned would be attainable especially if we diligently apply the techniques that you shared. We strongly recommend your program and encourage couples not only to consider this if they are in crisis but if they would like to re-imagine and deepen their current relationship. Thank you again for the greatest gift of all. We feel blessed to have met you.”Best – John and Emily, NYC, NY Learn About Marriage Intensives & Retreats
